All the yarns I use are chosen for the quality and at the same time for its sustainability. There are many ways to be sustainable, your priority can be traceability, local sources, animal care, etc. Finding all this qualities in one yarn is very difficult in my country (even though not impossible, more on that very soon!!!).
Traceability is not always easy with yarn, and were I live it often means buying from abroad. Most of my yarn bases come from sources with the best farming practices (no mulesing!). These merinos come from Argentina and Uruguay. The superwash treatment complies with the strict European regulations on wastewater.
Local spinning mills usually work only with big fashion businesses, and use a lot of synthetic fibers. I am constantly searching for yarns that fit in my philosophy, sometimes buying locally without wool traceability, and sometimes buying locally, with traceability but at a higher cost.
There are a few amazing initiatives working on this field in my country, and I hope to be able to work with them very soon!
Our newest baby! (not yet on the online shop, sorry!)
